Project overview

The maritime industry demands continuous learning, technical competency and adherence to international safety and operational standards. Seafarers and maritime professionals must keep upgrading their knowledge to meet evolving requirements, yet conventional training is hard to scale across distributed workforces, varied training needs, course schedules and competency assessments.

iSkill envisioned a dedicated digital learning ecosystem that would make maritime training more accessible, structured and measurable. Tecvisio.AI partnered with iSkill to engineer a specialised Learning Management System (LMS) that brings learners, training administrators, organisations and instructors together on one platform, serving both individual learners and organisational training programmes.

The challenge

  • Fragmented learning experiences: training content and activities were spread across different channels and systems.
  • Complex training management: coordinating learners, courses, instructors and schedules needed structured workflows.
  • Industry-specific learning: maritime professionals need courses aligned with their roles, technical responsibilities and operating environments.
  • Assessment and certification: training providers needed a consistent way to evaluate learners and manage course completion.
  • Multiple user groups: individual learners, corporate organisations, administrators and instructors each needed different access and experiences.
  • Training visibility: organisations needed clearer insight into learner progress, completion and competency development.
  • Accessibility: seafarers needed flexible learning that fits demanding schedules and work environments.

The solution

Tecvisio.AI engineered a dedicated maritime LMS that supports the complete digital learning lifecycle, bringing learning content, user management, course delivery, assessments and certification into one connected environment.

  • Course allocation and training coordination.
  • Central visibility into learning progress and training activity.

Assessments and certification

  • Digital assessment workflows, knowledge evaluation and examinations.
  • Course completion tracking.
  • Certification management.
  • Structured records of learner achievements.

Learning engagement and collaboration

  • Interactive learning experiences.
  • Discussion and knowledge sharing.
  • Learner engagement and peer interaction.
  • Support for continuous professional development.

Technology and engineering

Tecvisio.AI approached iSkill as a multi-user, multi-tenant digital product rather than a conventional online course website. The engineering scope covered custom LMS development, a Django-based backend, multi-tenant architecture, B2B and B2C learning environments, role-based access, course and content management workflows, learner and organisation dashboards, assessment and certification workflows, database-driven learning management and responsive application experiences. The architecture was designed around the different needs of individual learners and enterprise training organisations.

The impact

  • Centralised learning: courses, learners and training activity on one platform.
  • Better accessibility: maritime learning resources available through digital channels.
  • Organisational visibility: structured management of corporate learning.
  • Scalable training operations: a foundation for managing multiple organisations and learner groups.
  • Structured evaluation: assessment and certification workflows digitised.
  • Continuous development: support for ongoing professional learning and competency growth.

The outcome

With Tecvisio.AI as its technology partner, iSkill established a digital learning ecosystem tailored to the maritime industry. The platform supports a connected learning journey, from course discovery and enrolment to delivery, assessment and certification, creating a foundation for individual career development while letting maritime organisations and training providers manage learning from one central environment.
